Course: Arrest, Search & Seizure
Course Description: This program provides an overview of New Jersey arrest, search and seizure law, including issues pertaining to: (1) approaching and speaking with citizens/suspects (field inquiry / Terry Stop / arrest / pat frisk); (2) stopping vehicles and questioning/controlling the occupants, and (3) searching vehicles (search warrant, automobile exception, consent, etc.). The program provides an overall review of New Jersey arrest, search and seizure law while highlighting changes stemming from recent decisions and trends. Various training materials will be provided, and students are strongly encouraged to come prepared to ask search & seizure questions from their personal experience.
