Juvenile Law Update Course
This program updates police administrators, supervisors, patrol officers and detectives on the recent developments of juvenile prosecution. Specifically, the course will address the screening and charging process, ECDR, when juvenile complaints are placed on a summons or warrant, and under what circumstances and how a juvenile is lodged at the detention center. The course will discuss the different options for addressing juvenile incidents and important information to provide to the assistant prosecutor when screening a juvenile case. We will review hypotheticals, the purpose and challenges of juvenile prosecution, and juvenile incarceration. This course is crucial for all patrol officers, detectives, and supervisors who may interact with or investigate juveniles in the normal course of their duties.
